BIG DANCE BEIJING part of UK Now and London Olympics

Big Dance 2012 is the UK’s biggest celebration of dance. Thousands of events are taking place across the UK – lidos, parks, palaces, schools, high streets and squares – in all dance styles, as part of the London 2012 Festival, the culmination of the Cultural Olympiad.

Sponsored and co-organized by the British Council Beijing UK Now and Beijing Olympic City Development Association with support from the Beijing Dancers’ Association, BIG DANCE BEIJING is a cross-cultural collaboration project affiliated with ‘Big Dance U.K.’ - one of the world's biggest and most influential dance initiatives delivered through a network of the U.K.'s leading dance organisations.

In celebration of Olympics past, present and future, BIG DANCE BEIJING has been developed alongside sister projects ‘Big Dance London’ and ‘Big Dance Rio de Janeiro’, leading to a 30-minute film to be screened in London’s Trafalgar Square on July 14 2012 as part of "Big Dance London" and the culmination of the Cultural Olympiad. The film features local Beijing residents from all walks of life dancing at public venues across the city and will be presented on a large screen prior to the live dance event at Trafalgar Square that involves more than 3000 participants.
